Joe Castillo from Treaty Oak Distilling talking about the new distillery and party cocktails!

Joe Castillo, director of Sales for Treaty Oak Distilling, talks about this local producer that focuses on local ingredients and delicious spirits.  They have a new distillery out in Dripping Springs with a very exciting growth trajectory.  Also, Joe offers these suggestions on craft cocktails for parties and groups:

Red Handed Bourbon Egg Nog
 
4 egg yolks
 
1/3 cup sugar, plus 1 table spoon ( make simple syrup with 1 cup of terbinado sugar to 1 part water in microwave for 3 mins)
 
1 pint whole milk
 
1 cup heavy cream
 
3 ounces Red Handed Bourbon
 
1 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
 
4 egg whites
 
Directions:
 
In the bowl of a stand mixer, beat the egg yolks until they lighten in color. Gradually add the 1/3 cup sugar and continue to beat until it is completely dissolved. Add the milk, cream, bourbon and nutmeg and stir to combine.

Place the egg whites in the bowl of a stand mixer and beat to soft peaks. With the mixer still running gradually add the 1 tablespoon of sugar and beat until stiff peaks form.

Whisk the egg whites into the mixture. Chill and serve.

 
Red Handed Bourbon or Treaty Oak Barrel reserved Rum Milk Punch
 
2 oz Red Handed Bourbon or Treaty Oak Barrel Reserved Rum
 
3 oz half and half
 
1 tsp of superfine sugar
 
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
 
1/4 tsp nutmeg
 
shake, serve and sprinkle chocolate chip cookie crumble as garnish  
 
 
TX Old Fashioned Ice Cubes
 
Fill ice trays half way with distilled water

Pour 2 dashes bitters in each cube compartment

Drop a black cherry in each compartment

Place an orange rind in each compartment

Pour 1 dash simple syrup or table spoon of sugar into compartment

Freeze and throw into rocks glass and pour 2 ouncesany of our aged spirits below
